Halong Bay & Lan Ha Bay (Vietnam): Halong Bay has now opened once again to visitors. Tourism-related business are now permitted to resume operations. However, as international travel restrictions are still in place, many cruise lines are not operating or only offering cruises for the domestic market. Starting in July, Heritage Line also offers a different itinerary for 1-night stays as well as a day cruising option – both at a special rate for the local market.

Lower Mekong (Vietnam & Cambodia): The Mekong Delta region, as well as the Vietnamese/Cambodian river border, have been closed by local authorities on 13 March 2020. Cruise operations are not currently possible and due to uncertainties, Heritage Line will resume our cruises in October 2020.

Ayeyarwady & Chindwin (Myanmar): The destination currently remains closed for international arrivals. Heritage Line will resume Myanmar cruising operations August 2021.

Upper Mekong (Laos): Laos still has travel restrictions for international arrivals and uncertainties still remain for Quarters 2-4. Heritage Line Anouvong’s launch schedule has been postponed to January 2021 and will post updates on a regular basis regarding our Upper Mekong cruising operation.

VIETNAM: Since Sunday, 22 March 2020, all foreign nationalities are denied entry into Vietnam. Granting of e-visas will resume on 01 July 2020 to citizens of 80 countries, including the U.S., the U.K., Germany, Spain, France, China, Russa, Canada, and more. Click here for full list of countries and ports of entry. However, borders currently remain closed for international arrivals. The ongoing situation changes weekly, and there is some positive outlooks for destinations opening once again in the coming months.

CAMBODIA:  Since 31 March 2020, the government has suspended all visa-free entry and the issuance of all e-visas and visas-on-arrival for foreigners. Cambodia has suspended entry for visitors from Italy, Germany, Spain, France, Iran, and the United States. Since 29 May 2020, Cambodia has lifted the travel ban on these listed countries listed. However, all foreigners must provide a health certificate, stamped less than 72 hours prior to entry, proving they are free of infection. In addition, all travelers entering the country are subject to a mandatory 14-day quarantine.

LAOS: Beginning 18 March and until further notice, all land borders will be closed and granting of visa-on-arrival and e-visas is suspended. Those already holding an entry visa must submit a health certificate from the authorities upon arrival.

MYANMAR: Beginning 20 March and until further notice, Myanmar has suspended visa-on-arrival and e-visa for all foreign nationals.

Due to the restrictions and uncertainties of international travelling to and from a destination for many nationalities, Heritage Line has decided to pause its operation in all cruise destinations as follows:

  • Halong Bay & Lan Ha Bay (Vietnam): no operation until 31 September 2020. Cruises officially resume in October 2020 (although from July, Heritage Line will operate overnight and day cruises for the domestic market with a different itinerary)
  • Lower Mekong (Vietnam & Cambodia): no operation through 31 September 2020. Cruises resume in October 2020
  • Ayeyarwady & Chindwin (Myanmar): no operation in 2020. Cruises resume in January 2021
  • Upper Mekong (Laos): the planned start of our Laos cruise has been postponed until January 2021
