The Heritage Line who have been successfully traversing the Mekong Delta between My Tho, Vietnam and Siam Reap via Phnom Penh for 6 years, held a launch party to announce commencement of their sailing the Chindwin and Ayeyarwady Rivers, in the rapidly developing tourist destination of Myanmar.
The launch party was held on board of their brand new luxury paddle wheeler, the Anawrahta and 70 specially selected VIP guests greeted news of the new sailings enthusiastically. Heritage Line Managing Director, Mr Maarten Perdok welcomed the guests and laid out details of the planned new sailings, including the inaugural trip which left Yangon on March 4 on a journey to Bagan.
The 65 metre Anawrahta offers guests unrivalled space and luxury and an incredible staff to passenger ratio of 1:1. With a draft of only 1.1 metres it can navigate all but the smallest of rivers, carrying passengers at 12 nautical miles per hour in the finest of state rooms and suites.
The Anawrahta will operate several different itineraries:
- 4-nights between Bagan and Mandalay,
- 6-nights between Bagan and Yangon,
- 7-nights between Katha and Mandalay,
- 7-nights between Yangon and Bagan.
In addition, there will be two exotic 11-night voyages: Mandalay up the Chindwin to Homelin and returning to Bagan, Yangon up to Mandalay.
After the announcements guests enjoyed drinks and traditional Burmese food poolside on the fabulous sundeck of this luxuriously appointed cruise boat. The star of the show was of course this wonderful craft that will soon be a familiar sight on the waterways of Myanmar.
