Heritage Line continues to build its’ Brand image as a boutique luxury cruise line in SE Asia. On March 2nd of this year, we proudly celebrated the launching ceremony of our newest vessel, the Anawrahta with all our partners.
When launched later this year, this impressive vessel will have the largest cabin space and highest passenger-to-crew ratio of any ship in Myanmar. The Anawrahta will offer the finest on-board experience of any ship on the Ayeyarwady.

The impressive vessel Anawrahta is named after the first King to put a stamp on Burmese history by unifying the country in 1044. He was also a mighty warrior, accomplished statesman and introduced Theravada Buddhism throughout the country. In more modern times, during the Colonial Era, the British ferried their personnel and goods the length of the river by paddle-wheelers. The low draft design of the boats allowed them to sail year-round and we are emulating that fact in our new vessel.

We are proud of our vessels, all of which combine old-fashioned elegance with modern comfort. The Anawrahta is a four-deck paddle-wheeler that mixes Burmese motifs and British colonial-style décor. The elegant 65-meter/214 feet long Anawrahta features three spacious decks and 23 luxurious, all-balconied cabins. With its gleaming white rails, polished lacquer, intricately carved woodwork and shining brass, every detail of the Anawrahtais painstakingly recreated to remake history. Authenticity, tradition, artistry and exploration are at the heart of what we do.

It was great to have so many of Heritage Line’s partners, suppliers and employees on hand for our Launching Ceremony. This gathering allowed us to celebrate the “big day” and realise everyone’s contribution to the building effort. For us, it is incredibly important that all of our team and partners, no matter where they are based, understand the vision behind our launch of the Anawrahta and our standards for delivering an exceptional river cruise experience for our guests.

The Anawrahta, a luxury paddle-wheeler, is scheduled to commence sailing in September 2015 on the Ayeyarwady and Chindwin rivers in Myanmar. We will begin our tours at Yangon andstop at such popular ports as Bagan and Mandalay and also visit more exotic parts of the river such as Homalin and Bhamo.

The Anawrahta is the perfect vessel on which to explore the Ayeyarwady.Sail this mighty river with us and be taken back in time to an era of bygone elegance.

And now, the Anawrahta joins in Heritage Line’s boutique fleet of luxury ships – the Ginger, Jasmine and Violet on Ha Long Bay and the Jayavarman and Jahan sailing on the Mekong.
