Cruise Updates

Important Cruise & Travel Information

UPPER MEKONG –

‘UPDATED PROGRAM’

Low water levels between November – April coupled with weight of the ship ANOUVONG do not allow safe navigation of specific areas of the upper Mekong. Notably, there are shallow and narrow river section with strong rapids located between Luang Prabang – Pakbeng and – Huay Xai that are particularly challenging for our ship.

Therefore, Heritage Line had to implement alternate itineraries in the period January – April 2024 including a special longtail boat (tender boat) operation:

  • UPSTREAM ITINERARIES (3 & 9 Nights): The last two sailings days will be operated on a longtail boat including one overnight on land in Pakbeng.
  • DOWNSTREAM ITINERARIES (3 & 7 Nights): On the first sailing day a longtail boat transfer is operated to reach the ship.

We have updated our cruise programs on our website. Please read the detailed programs carefully:

The revised itineraries are applicable to all cruise departures and itinerary in the period stated above. For existing and new bookings affected by this changes, the following compensation is offered:

  1. 200 USD per person Discount or Onboard credit
  2. A limited complimentary beverage package (soft drinks, coffee, tea, mineral water, local beer) during longtail boat services

Guests who would like to cancel their booking will be allowed to cancel their booking at no charge with paid money to be refunded or credited to any other future or alternative booking with Heritage Line (voucher possibility).

UPPER MEKONG –

‘PAUSING OPERATION’

Due to the considerations mentioned above, Heritage Line will be pausing operations on the Upper Mekong region for the period from July to December 2024. The Heritage Line ANOUVONG will, in this time period, be dry docked as it undergoes refurbishment to improve navigability under demanding conditions.

Cruise operation will be resumed on the 01 January 2025. Please find detailed departure schedule for 2025 and 2026 here. We are open to receive bookings!

VISA

Both visas are valid for river border crossing into Vietnam (a specific river port location/name is not needed anymore since ). The pre-pandemic Visa-waiver program has been re-instated for applicable countries only.
