‘Cruise & Arts’ – A Journey Shaped by Heritage & Art

Cambodia reveals itself through many layers: ancient civilisation, living culture and majestic nature. All connected by a strong artistic spirit shaped by design, imagination and storytelling.

The ‘Cruise & Arts’ package celebrates this creative dimension through a carefully curated combination of art-inspired properties and an artistically themed river voyage, connecting Siem Reap, the Mekong River, Phnom Penh and the Cardamom Mountains into one seamless experience.

Across land and river, guests stay aboard and within environments where architecture, interior design and atmosphere are works of art in themselves, conceived by visionary designers and brought to life through heritage, and craftsmanship. Over ten days, the journey unfolds through three distinct settings, each offering its own artistic expression of Cambodia.

A Beginning in Siem Reap: Shinta Mani Angkor

The journey begins in Siem Reap, home to the Angkor temple complex — one of Southeast Asia’s most significant artistic achievements. Intricate bas-reliefs, sacred geometry and monumental architecture form the cultural backdrop for the opening chapter.

At its centre lies Shinta Mani Angkor, a design-led sanctuary created by world-renowned architect Bill Bensley. Known for his theatrical and narrative-driven style, Bensley has infused the property with bold colours, curated artworks, handcrafted details and contemporary interpretations of Khmer heritage.

Shinta Mani Angkor is more than a place to stay; it is a living gallery where art, culture and comfort seamlessly converge. Corridors, courtyards and guest spaces unfold like exhibition rooms, each reflecting a carefully layered aesthetic that connects past and present.

Days remain unhurried and flexible. From temple visits and market strolls to optional cultural encounters, the experience gently Angkor’s ancient artistry with the modern creative vision embodied by the hotel. Complementing the stay is a visit to the Bensley Outsider Gallery, located in Siem Reap. This distinctive space showcases Bill Bensley’s personal artwork: expressive, imaginative and often playful, offering deeper insight into the creative mind behind the Shinta Mani properties. The gallery adds a compelling artistic dimension to the experience, linking architecture, fine art and storytelling.

Together, Siem Reap and Shinta Mani Angkor provide a balanced beginning to the journey, connecting ancient artistry with modern expression before the route continues south toward the Mekong River.

Art Along the Mekong River Aboard Heritage Line

On day three, guests embark on Heritage Line’s boutique river ship ‘The Jahan’ – a floating tribute to art, history and craftsmanship.

Named after the celebrated 16th-century Indian emperor Shah Jahan, one of history’s great patrons of the arts, the ship evokes the grandeur of former British India. Its design features fine artworks and bespoke furnishments, creating an atmosphere of regal elegance throughout. Intricate woodcarvings, decorative panels, sculptural details and richly layered interiors transform the vessel into an intimate gallery in motion.

As the ship glides along the Mekong River, art becomes atmosphere. Spacious sundeck, refined bar lounge and private balcony suites frame ever-changing landscapes, allowing design and destination to unfold together.

Artistically themed shore experiences complement the voyage, offering cultural perspective through architecture, craftsmanship and tradition, from historic monasteries and pottery villages to river communities shaped by time. These encounters enrich the narrative while allowing the ship’s distinctive artistic identity to remain its heart.

Explore Royal Heritage & Living Traditions in Phnom Penh

In Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s artistic story expands through royal tradition and architectural refinement.

Visits to the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda reveal classical Khmer craftsmanship, ornate detailing and sacred symbolism that continue to shape national identity. Cyclo rides through historic districts introduce colonial-era buildings and the capital’s evolving creative spirit.

As evening falls, the ship anchors on the Tonle River, offering sweeping views across Phnom Penh’s skyline. The final night on board is marked by a farewell celebration accompanied by traditional Apsara dance — a graceful conclusion to the Mekong chapter.

Into the Wild Cardamom Forest: Shinta Mani Wild

After disembarkation, the journey turns inland toward the untouched rainforest of the Cardamom Mountains.

Hidden within a protected private reserve lies Shinta Mani Wild, another extraordinary creation by Bill Bensley. Dramatic in both setting and design, the eco-luxury camp blends conservation, adventure and artistic imagination.

Individually themed tents are adorned with bold colours, antiques and bespoke furnishings, evoking the spirit of exploration while remaining deeply connected to the surrounding wilderness. Elevated walkways, river crossings and thoughtfully designed communal spaces allow architecture and nature to merge seamlessly.

Here, the artistic expression becomes experiential, shaped by environment, storytelling and emotion. Guests may choose guided jungle walks, kayaking, wellness treatments or moments of stillness within the forest. All-inclusive dining and curated activities ensure a relaxed and meaningful conclusion to the journey.

Here, the focus shifts from cultural exploration to natural immersion, completing the experience with a deeper understanding of Cambodia’s environmental heritage.
