All is cooked or prepared fresh in our galley by skilled chefs.
Our buffets come alive with wonderful live cooking stations. All-time western favourites in the morning like omelets or Burmese and Asian flavours are prepped and served on the spot. During lunch, the live station presents a special delicacy every day.
Our bartenders are known as experimental practitioners and have created some very tasty concoctions. The bar is well equipped and can cater every wish that goes beyond a classic margarita or a well-deserved gin and tonic. Our gin & tonic is especially unique, as we make our tonic water ourselves with hand-picked and organic ingredients. Sir Kipling himself could be a regular at our bar.
Barbecues aboard Anawrahta are really special events. The set-up on the elevated sun deck (or even sometimes on a sandbank) enhance this culinary experience that comes with a vast selection of items from the grill – be it fine cuts of meat or fresh veggies.

Have breakfast delivered to the comfort your stateroom or suite, or observe the early morning river life while dining on your balcony. Most of the dishes served in the dining room are also available for room service. Just be sure to fill out the menu, indicate your preferred serving time and hang it on your door handle - we'll take care of the rest!
On the final evening, get ready for a joyful farewell dinner with your newly made friends on the outdoor terrace deck. The event also features a ‘Ramayana’ dance and music show which depicts ancient Burmese folk legends.
This event is a special get-together at Kipling’s Bar. Get dressed up in old glory and raise the glass to toast a bygone era. As gentlemen whiff cigars and ladies sip on a smooth gin and tonic, music and poems of a different time create a unique sense of place.
The cooking classes aboard Anawrahta are a major and well-visited event in which our head chef displays how to cook some of the favourite and easy to make local dishes. You can easily re-cook these recipes at home to remember your Myanmar cruise holiday aboard Anawrahta.
There are various cultural demonstrations onboard. Among these, one is the explanation of how Thanaka paste is produced and used. A very unique tradition only to be seen in Myanmar must be understood when travelling here – and, of course, when in Burma do as the Burmese do and try using some for yourself over the course of the journey.
To break the ice with fellow travellers, the Longyi cocktail party is an amazing event that brings together traditional Burmese attire and bit of party atmosphere while sipping the barman’s delicious concoctions. Many of our passengers enjoy the comfy Longyi so much, they keep wearing it throughout the cruise afterwards.
Ancient Burma has some very old and classic dances and music themes which have been created for the kings and performed by skilled dancers. Let us show you some of these deep rooted traditional activities.
Anawrahta’s sun deck and pool is by far one of the grandest among all cruisers in the region. Open from early morning till late evening, the pool is ready for a refreshing dip and offers amazing infinity-like views. Relax with the built-in seating and the Jacuzzi jet-streams and rest on the padded loungers spread across the deck to make the relaxation complete.
The bridge, or wheelhouse, is always open for a visit, and deckhands who are safely navigating us along the entire trip welcome you and answer any questions you may have about cruising on the Ayeyarwady or Chindwin rivers.
Available only during the winter months, this activity is a must-do experience to see the temple-filled plains of Bagan from above during sunrise. Marvel at the amazing vistas and colors of sunrise during a private or shared balloon ride. Let us arrange this supplemental activity for you on board (fee not included in cruise rate).

The VIP spa room has a sauna which is available for use on a complimentary basis. We also incorporate the sauna in special wellness treatments or offer private sauna session packages inclusive of drinks and treats.
The ship is equipped with a fitness room which is free for anyone to use. Burn off some calories on the treadmill or spend some time on the bicycle whilst gazing at the passing sceneries.
Next to yoga we also offer a spiritual morning mediation to start the day with a mind at Zen.

The Anawrahta is a relatively large ship but only has 23 staterooms and suites on board. We have paid detailed attention to providing a spacious and cosy living atmospheres in public areas where guests can find an undisturbed refuge – be it on the vast sun deck with its cabanas or a cozy corner in the Mandalay Lounge.
Bring your postcard to the post office, arrange a transfer to the airport, pack and ship a purchased souvenir, or book a post-cruise tour – our staff are multi-faceted concierges and more than happy to assist with any of your wishes.
Our onboard staff is trained and certified for first aid and life saving techniques. We also have very good connections with local doctors and hospitals and in case of an emergency (which, of course, we hope never happen), we have protocols in place for the safety of our passengers.
