Cruising through the remote and inaccessible regions of Laos does not mean you also miss out on fresh local ingredients or fine imported products, which we carefully source and incorporate into our menus which feature a variety of Asian, western and fusion fares. All menus are multi-course with a variety of dishes for each serving – all changed daily, of course, and with vegetarian options as well as other dietary requirements.
Breakfast onboard is offered in a mix of buffet and à la carte - be it perfectly cooked and simple scrambled eggs, a healthy assortment of fruits and natural yoghurt or all-time favourite classic breakfast offerings. A good cappuccino is a must to go with your tasty croissant. All comes with happy morning smiles from our Lao service team and panoramic river views.
The upper Mekong promises the perfect locales for outdoor culinary events. Barbecues or aperitif cocktails on a sand bank or gala-dinner set-up on the terrace deck – these open-air feasts are an integral part of our unhurried journeys along the upper Mekong.
In the morning, there are the classic dishes such as freshly prepared omelets or Lao noodle soup. The live station during our lunch buffet features a special and different dish every day, prepared by our head chef.
Served on the open terrace deck or in the café-bar & lounge, the complimentary afternoon tea comes with a broad selection of tea flavours as well as biscuits, cookies and some other tasty tidbits.
Over centuries the Laotian people have preserved their local culture and tradition which we would like to share with you during various demonstrations - be it a local dance routine, a musical performance with unfamiliar instruments or a spiritual Baci ceremony to receive good blessings during our travels.
Sailing the upper Mekong is at all times an adventure for guests. But also for our captains, as the river is one of the most challenging to navigate. Come by at the wheelhouse at any time as the captain is always open for a visit and happy to answer any questions you may have about cruising along the upper Mekong.
During your journey, we not only show authentic Laos, but we also provide as much information as possible about the places you visit and activities you undertake. Various educational lectures about culture, history, people and more are held on board by either our onboard or on-shore experts who know the country like their back of the hand.
Travelling in a foreign place means experiencing new foods and flavours. But rather than merely just having a taste - we also want to share with you our recipes to cook at home. Join our onboard cooknig class, where our chef is eager to reveal his culinary knowledge and techniques so you can reproduce our Laotian dishes easily at home.
The upper Mekong is an ‘Eldorado’ for sandbank river life. Every night we stop at one and take advantage of that remote mooring by offering guests an opportunity to ‘abandon ship’ for an aperitif or cocktail event. On one of the most beautiful sandbanks, we set up a wonderful barbecue and gala dining event which is an extraordinary experience in the middle of nowhere.
The little, luxury Anouvong has a real cozy spa area in its stern in which we can pamper our guests with all kind of services, including various massage treatments, reflexology, facials and nail treatments.
While the sun is rising, the daily morning Tai Chi session on the open deck is the perfect eye-opener before starting the day. The ever-changing Laotian river scenery promises a new backdrop each day and provides inspiration for this meditative experience.
At certain locations along our cruise, we offer a very unique experience - a private meditation session at a small village temple. Partake in this once-in-a-lifetime experience for some Buddhist enlightenment.
